OMRUB is the leader in an emerging FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) category of natural anti-inflammatories. Omrub was created in 2017 by its inventor, an experienced NZ organic formulator and massage therapist. He wanted a rub for his clients that contained no synthetics and other “nasties.” Following the challenges of COVID, combined with personal health challenges, Omrub was sold in 2022 to two Kiwi business people.
Omrub is the flagship product and stands for Organic Muscle Rub. It is a professional strength muscle and joint rub, a natural anti-inflammatory and can be applied as often as pain occurs, allowing people to manage their pain organically.
Omrub is the definition of a small Kiwi business, currently being run out of the homes of its owners in Auckland, and is manufactured by Pauling Industries, which is also in Auckland. Pauling Industries was the first manufacturer in NZ to become BioGro-certified. That expertise and experience have been integral to Omrub’s own certification.
Since being bought by the current owners in 2022, Omrub has seen phenomenal growth and recognition. In the first six months, monthly sales increased by over 400%. Over the last year, the company’s branding and packaging have been updated to prioritise sustainability and to highlight that the product is Kiwi-created and made.
Omrub is used by top NZ athletes, past and present, including brand ambassadors Dame Susan Devoy, D.J. Forbes and Fiona Dowling. It is the Official Supplier of Squash NZ and a supporter of Disability Sports Auckland.
Omrub chooses to be BioGro Certified because BioGro has a long and strong history and is an organic certification standard to aspire to.
Omrub has been certified organic since its formation in 2017. The company places a strong emphasis on sustainability throughout its supply chain. Many of the 14 active ingredients used in Omrub's products are rare. Due to the high standards of organic certification, Omrub has learned the importance of forward planning. The company sources its ingredients from sustainable and organic suppliers globally, including New Zealand.
Traditional muscle rubs often contain synthetic chemicals that adversely affect our bodies and the environment. These chemicals may cause skin irritations and allergies or disrupt the hormonal system. In contrast, Omrub is made with natural ingredients, such as essential oils, plant extracts, and organic carriers. These natural ingredients help alleviate muscle pain while minimising the risk of harmful side effects.
