Livestock Declarations are important for confirming that an animal is compliant to overseas market regulations.
Recently we have received some questions regarding when Livestock Declarations need to be sent to the BioGro office. We would like to take this opportunity to outline the declaration requirements for both Europe and the United States.
Livestock Declerations for the EU
Livestock Declarations for the EU are used to confirm that animals are still compliant with EU regulations in terms of treatments. At least one declaration per season must be approved by BioGro in order to confirm that the market requirements are understood (mandatory).
However, the number of treatments may vary between one mob and another. You can choose to submit one EU Livestock Declaration for each mob sold as organic (optional).
Livestock Declerations for the US
The USDA NOP declaration (for the US market) is only requested once a year at the time of renewal to confirm how many animals are compliant with the NOP (mandatory). This may be requested by the meat companies as a confirmation that a particular mob is compliant to the USDA NOP for meat.
